Two axis charts
  •     tamsinw May 14, 2009 1:27PM
Is there any way in Omniscope v2.5 to build charts with two axis, ie a line on one with say sales and then a bar on the other with say spend?

    thanks

Tamsin- this is a frequent request and will be possible in a future release. There will be a new Line View, and related changes to the Bar View, which will make this possible, and much better looking than Excel...

    Hi Tom,

Thats great - that will really widens it application for us - do you have any idea on possible timelines for this?

Secondly, a slightly different question, I understand in the table I can aggregate my data and calculate formulas on the sum of my data, however, currently its not possible to chart the results of these aggregated formulas, eg total sales, total investment and then a investment to sales ratio across all my data, (summing across all my weekly periods). Is this something that is in development? Or equally, is there anyway to have two different data sets/tables in one project, ie one by week and then one which is a summary?

    Many thanks

    Tamsin

    Hi Tom,

I am interested to use the feature as mentioned above. Could you please advise if it's already available? I am a new user and is still not very familiar with Omniscope yet.

Emy - DataPlayer2 has a new Line View and it supports dual axis charts...to try it you need to enable experimental features from Settings > Advanced > Show experimental features and re-start your Omniscope. Something similar will be in an upcoming version of Omniscope as a new view for DataExplorer tabs.

Is there a way with the new view to get bars and lines stacked with different scales? One for the bars and one for the lines?

    Thanks!

Howard, are you referring to Omniscope Bar view or DataPlayer Bar view?
  •     hgross July 19, 2011 2:33PM
The Omniscope Bar view. I'm in the experimental features and can overlay two different metrics on top of each other, but they still have the same scale.

Howard - this is in real time development....ask for promotion to the Beta Partner group on the Forum and you will be told when a discussion of this new version of the Bar View opens in the Development section of the Forum. Then you (and Beta Partners from all the agencies) can start testing dual-axis lines & bars in earnest...won't be long...

    hi tjbate
    based on your comment

i already follow the step and i still can create dual axis charts, i hope it can create 2 axis and 2 different chart in same view

Eka - Yes, you will be able to create mixed lines and bars in the upcoming dual-axis view in Omniscope, just like you can now with exportable DataPlayers.

If you ask to be upgraded to Beta Partner on the Forum, you will be able to see the Development discussion of this new version of the Bar View when it is ready for testing.

Hi tjbate, where do I request the beta partner group?
  •     ekasapta July 21, 2011 12:07AM
Thanks Tjbate, it's my 1st time use omniscope, i still learn how to use the feature, but if i can be beta partner it would be great :-)

Hi there, I'm also interested to overlay two axis in a graph chart - is there a new development available?

    Thanks

I have made you an alpha partner. Please check the announcements in the forums index.

I'm still having issues with setting this up in Data Explorer. I viewed the video tutorial on this, but when I select the measures (from the drop down) that I'm graphing I don't have the additional options to convert the bar graph to a line graph OR change axis. I'm using version 2.7 and even turned on the experimental features section, but still no luck. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Shaji

In the Preset menu, choose Lines On Bars.
In the Measures menu, tick two or more fields.
Let me know if this doesn't work.

Not sure what you mean by Preset menu. I looked at the Add view section and there is no line on bars. I thought the option to change between bars & line graphs was meant to be where you select your measures?
  •     mustafa February 28, 2012 6:33AM
The line "Preset menu" is located next to "Cascade" option in the Bar View toolbar.

It has "3 Bars with question mark on top" icon.

You can also use the Measures menu for the same effect, if you have done this before. In the measures menu, choose multiple fields, and change the "bars" icon to "lines" for one of the fields.

Presets are there to make it simpler.
